Welcome to the Start your own business blog

Hi,

The purpose of this blog is to give information to anybody thinking about, or who have already, set up their own business. Over a period of time I hope to build this site into an information resource on this subject. My name is Ken Germaine and for the past more than eight years I have been the Chief Executive of the BASE Enterprise Centre in Dublin, Ireland. I have provided information and support to countless start-up businesses over this time. Previous to that I was an Enterprise Officer for a local development organisation in Dublin for three and a half years and formerly I was self employed for the previous seven years. I am currently the Senior Vice President of the Institute of Management Consultants and Advisers (IMCA) in Ireland. I also provide training in the area of enterprise start-up and development. I hope the information in this blog will be of assistance and will hopefully ask some necessarily awkward questions before you decide to make the ‘big jump’ into self employment/entrepreneurship.
